AS this year's Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations start from today, the examinees as well as the guardians are still worried about the possibility of question leaks. Last year's SSC exams witnessed a spate of question leaks as the question papers of 12 out of the 17 subjects were leaked hours before the exams. And in 2017 also, question papers of almost all public exams—from PSC, JSC, SSC and HSC to the public university admission exams—were leaked prior to the exams. However, we hope that this time there will be no question leaks since the government has taken some well-thought-out measures to check this.

The measures taken by the government such as shutting down coaching centres during the exams, sending the question papers to the exam centres in a special kind of aluminium packet, restriction on using cell phones, etc., should help checking question leaks. In this regard, we also welcome the Rapid Action Battalion's (Rab) efforts to prevent question paper leaks as we have learnt that the elite force will increase cyber monitoring and conduct undercover drives across the country to hold the potential leakers. Monitoring the coaching centres with the help of mobile courts so that those stay shut during the SSC exams should also be very effective. However, the law enforcement agencies should also make sure that no innocent people suffer because of their drives.

As for the students and guardians, we hope that they will not run after the leaked questions and will not pay heed to any rumours. Teachers should also give their students moral support in this regard. We hope the government with the help of the law enforcement agencies will succeed in stopping question leaks once and for all.
