All contestants except those from Awami League (AL) in six constituencies of Patuakhali and Barguna lost their deposit as they failed to get one-eighth of the cast votes in the 11th latiya Sangsad polls held on December 30, said sources of the district election offices.

Of the 27 candidates, who lost their deposit in the six conxtituencies, five each are in Patuakhali-1 and 4, three each in Patuakhali-2 and 3, six in Barguna-1 and five in Barguna-2, sources in Patuakhali and Barguna district election offices said.

In Patuakhali-1 constituency, a total of 3,02,879 votes were cast AL candidate Md Shahjahan Mia won with 2,70,970 votes while Altafur Rahman of Islami Andolon Bangladesh got 15,103 votes, Altaf Hossain Chowdhury of BNP 10,369, Abdur Rashid of Jaker Party 2,340, Sumon Sannyamot of National People's Party 1,140 and Motaleb Mollah of CPB got 1,120 votes.

In Patuakhali-2, atotal of2,02,721 votes were cast and AL candidate ASM Feroz Mia got 1,85,783 votes. Md Nazrul Islam of Islami Andolon got 9,269 votes, Salma Islam of BNP got 5,660 and Shahabuddin of CPB got 1,099 votes.

Of the 2,35,599 votes cast in Patuakhali-3, AL candidate SM Shahajada got 2,17,261 votes while defeated candidates Kamal Khan of Islami Andolon Bangladesh got 9,009 votes, Coplam Maula Roni of BNP got 6,459, and Saiful Islam of Jatiya Party got 2,002 votes.

I n Patuakhali-4, a total of2,05,190votes were cast and AL's Md Mohibbur Rahman won with 1,88,781 votes while Md Habibur Rahman of Islami Andolon got 7,251 votes, ABM Mosharof Hossain of BNP 6,097, Abdur Rahman of Islami Oikyajote 967, Anwar Hossain Hawlader of Jatiya Party 958and Jahirul Alom of BangladesherSamajtantrikDalgot272votes.

Of the 3,53,029 votes in Barguna-1, AL candidate Direndra Debnath Shomvu got 3,19,957 votes while Matiar Rahman Talukder of BNP got 15,344 votes, Wali Ullah of Islami Andolon 14,419, Shah Abul Kalam of Tarikat Federation 621, Khalilur Rahman of BNF 364, Rafiqul Islam of Islami Oikyajote206 and Masud Kamal ofNPP got 189 votes.

In Barguna-2, a total of2,20,987 votes were cast and AL's Hachanur Rahman Rimon won with 2,00,325 votes. Khondokar Mahbub Hossain of BNP got 9,518 votes, Colam Sarwer Him of Islami Andolon 8,030, Basir Uddin Biswas of Islami Oikyajote 1,124, Mizanur Rahman of latiya Party 631 and Md Zakir Hossain of Bangladesh Nationalist Front got 182 votes.
