Shanto-Mariam Foundation has organised a solo painting exhibition of renowned artist Shahabuddin Ahmed at its Creative the Art Gallery in Uttara. Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla inaugurated the exhibition as chief guest on September 30. Artist Nasim Ahmed Nadvi and art critic Moinuddin Khaled delivered the welcoming address at the opening ceremony. Founder chairman of Shanto-Mariam Foundation and Freedom Fighter Md Imamul Kabir Shanto delivered a vote of thanks at the event, coordinated by Tagore singer Lily Islam.

The exhibition features 25 drawings and seven paintings by the art maestro.

Shahabuddin's art represents the glorious Liberation War and the motherland's rich cultural heritage. The three-weeklong exhibition, opening from 10am to 8pm daily, will conclude on October 19.

Shahabuddin's paintings are displayed in many prestigious galleries across the globe, including Museum Olympic Lausanne, Switzerland and Bourn-En Brasse Museum, France. He was awarded at the Olympiad of Arts, Barcelona, in 1992 and honoured with the French title Chevalier De L'ordre Des Arts Et Des Lettres (Knight in the Order of Fine Arts and Humanities) by the Ministry for Cultural Affair and Communication of France in 2014. He also received the Shadhinata Padak in 2000 and Bangla Academy Award in 1974.
