Promising photographer Mahmuda Tuli's first solo exhibition titled State of Mind was opened at Kalakendra, Mohammadpur on September 7. Curated by noted artist Wakilur Rahman, the colourful, experimental and bold exhibition deals with a layer of the featured photographer's diverse state of mind.

This photographic body of work was started from the middle of 2014 as Tuli’s self-portrait series. "I had been photo-

graphing what makes me think and what is related to my own life. Self-discovery is an intriguing journey, one that I constantly struggle to get a grip on," said Mahmuda Tuli. "With this series, I tried to capture different shades of myself using colour, object and movement to explore the malleable nature of the human mind. The series helps to define my mood swings and the evident energy within oneself and the surroundings."

Comparing the practice of photography in the then and present time Bangladesh,

renowned photographer Nasir Ali Mamun spoke at the inaugural ceremony. “It's a matter of joy and pride that talented photographers like Mahmuda Tuli are experimenting and enriching the trend of visual art language through their practice," he said.

Mahmuda Tuli graduated from Pathshala South Asian Media Institute. She has held several group exhibitions and attended workshop on 'Self Potrait', conducted by Cristina Nunez in Dhaka in 2015.
