Jatiya Party chief HM Ershad yesterday said that they no longer want to continue as "domesticated opposition party”. Rather, they want to go to power with the strength of the party's leaders and activists and love of the countrymen.

"We no longer want to continue as domesticated opposition party.. .We want to go to power. We're ready for that," he said at a joint meeting of Jatiya Party (JP) at Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh in the capital.

Grassroots-level and central leaders, and activists of the party joined the meeting.

Ershad, also special envoy to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said, "We have gained strength, we are now prepared to go to power."

He also said at the meeting that JP will hold a rally at Suhrawardy Udyan on October 6 where the party will reveal its election strategy.

"We will hold the rally with the participation of tens of thousands of people," Ershad said.

At the meeting opposition leader Raushan Ershad said, "After going to power, we will eradicate terrorism, murders, anarchy, corruption and politics of violence from the country."

JP Senior Co-chairman Raushan Ershad, Co-chairman GM Quader, Secretary General ABM Ruhul Amin Hawlader and Presidium Member Anisul Islam Mahmud addressed the meeting among others.
