The vote counting of Dhaka Bar Association (DBA)'s 27-member executive committee election that was halted on Thursday due to a scuffle will resume today.

Mahbubul Haque, a member of the election commission of DBA, said vote counting would begin on multiple floors of the association's office in Old Dhaka at 8:00am.

Over 9,000 voters cast their votes on Tuesday and Wednesday. The scuffle started on the second floor of the office just half an hour after the election commission started the counting, at 10:00pm on Thursday.

According to ABM Moshiur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station, the election commission allowed two lawyers from each of the two contesting panels to remain present during the vote counting. The scuffle ensued when an apprentice lawyer Samad wearing the identity card of another lawyer entered the room as one of the representatives, said the OC. But Samad did not mention which panel he was representing. Police caught Samad near the association office early yesterday. A case was filed against him, and a Dhaka court later sent him to jail.
