For years, cultural organisation Uttarayan has worked tirelessly to promote Tagore's legacy in Bangladesh, and has made successful endeavours to connect Tagore exponents in Bangladesh and West Bengal. Beginning their journey seven years ago with Lily Islam as the founder, today Uttarayan celebrates their anniversary with an event at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy's National Theatre Hall at 6.30pm.

The organisation has invited Minister of Cultural Affairs Asaduzzaman Noor as the chief guest. Titled "Amader Rabindranath", the evening will include musical performances by artistes from Uttarayan and Kolkata, as well as recitations by elocutionists from Badrul Abritti Charcha Kendra, from Chittagong.

“Tagore's works covers expansive themes, and it shows how closely tuned he was to events that shaped us as a society. Our programme is an effort to showcase that, so we have a repertoire of songs that cover a magnitude of issues, and feelings," stated Lily Islam regarding the evening's performances.

In response to a question regarding the obstacles Uttarayan has had to face over the years, Lily Islam added, "Seven years is not a long time to create a lasting impact, and we welcome challenges so we can learn and overcome. We have been lucky to receive everyone's support, without which we would not have made it this far."

“Amader Rabindranath" is organised by Lily Islam and Himadri Shekhor, with support from Subhrata Mukhopadhyay as musical director and Nasirul Haque Khokon giving artistic direction. The programme is compiled by Sohel Anwar.
