Relations between Awami League (AL) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of India will be strengthened further, said AL Joint General Secretary Mahbub-Ul Alam Hanifyesterday.

"Bangladesh has friendly relations with India for a long tim... It is urgent to maintain political stability for both Bangladesh and India to foster development activities. Similarly, we feel to cement bonds between the two parties to work together for the development of the countries", Hanif told journalists after a meeting with BJP General Secretary Ram Madhav at a hotel in the capital.

About the Rohingya issue, he said, "It is an internal problem of Myanmar. World community believes that solution to Rohingya crisis lies with Myanmar. Similarly, India wants that Myanmar acts towards resolving the Rohingya crisis."

AL Presidium Member Lt Col (retd) Faruq Khan, Joint General Secretary Dr Dipu Moni, International Affairs Secretary Shammi Ahmed, and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam were also present at the meeting.
