Marking the 74th birth anniversary of poet Mahadev Saha, a programme was held at the hall room of Bengali Department of Govt Ananda Mohan College in the town on Saturday.

The programme included a discussion, poetry recitation and placing of floral wreaths at the portrait of the poet and more.

The teachers and students of Bengali Department of Govt Ananda Mohan College organised the programme to honour the poet.

Earlier, a discussion was held attended by poets, writers, teach-

ers and students of the college.

Prof. Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, Prof Umme Kulsum, Porf Al Maksud of Govt. Ananda Mohan College's Bengali Department; and veteran poet Shamsul Fayez took part in the discussion on life and work of the poet.

Aysha Siddiqua and Waliul Islam, both third year students of Bengali Department recited poems of Mahadev Saha.

Prof Jannatul Ferdous of the department was in the chair.

Mahadev Saha has the capacity to make all sections of people to be his readers because he depicts their daily expression involving love, agony and joy in his writings, the speakers said.

The speakers also recalled the poet's devotion for Independence and Liberation War depicted in his writings.
