A six-riddled 97 from Rishabh Pant turned a nearimpossible chase into a cakewalk for Delhi Daredevils as they overhauled Gujarat Lions' 208 with 2.3 overs to spare in their Indian Premier League game in Delhi yesterday.

The left-hander's explosive 43-balI knock featured nine sixes, many hit on one leg over the leg side, and was backed up superbly by Sanju Samson's 31-balI 61 as the two put on 143 runs for the second wicket in just 10.3 overs.

At one stage there was a stretch of four consecutive sixes and five in the space of eight balls in the 11th and 12th overs bowled by James Faulkner and Ravindra Jadeja.

Pant departed three runs short of his hundred when he edged to the keeper off Basil Thampi ,but Delhi were all but home at that point as the equation had been brought down to 29 off 33 with seven wickets in hand.

Earlier, skipper Suresh Raina (77 off 43) and Dinesh Karthik (65 off 34) put on a 133-run third-wicket partnership to guide Gujarat to 208 for seven.
