UK foreign office minister arrives

UK Foreign Office Minister for Asia and the Pacific Alok Sharma arrived in Dhaka yesterday on a three-day visit aiming to strengthen counter-terrorism cooperation with Bangladesh.

The minister will meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign

Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali, said a British High Commission press release. He will hold discussions with political party leaders, business representatives, civil society and minority and faith groups and meet Chevening and Commonwealth alumni.

Todd due Sunday

US Acting Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs William E. Todd will arrive in Dhaka likely in the early hours on Sunday for a brief visit.

This will be the first visit by any senior official since US President

Donald Trump took over on January 20. Diplomatic sources said Todd is expected to hold talks with an adviser to the prime minister, foreign minister and foreign secretary. They said the issues relating to security cooperation will be discussed. Todd will depart Dhaka late night on the day.

Basecamp's longest Walk' on Cox's Bazar beach March 18-20

Basecamp Bangladesh Ltd, an adventure and outdoor activity organisation, will arrange “The Longest Walk 2017" on the Cox's Bazar beach on March 18-20, said a press release.
