Officials of Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) yesterday arrested a land official red-handed while he was taking bribe at Bhuapur upazila of the district.

The arrestee is Ansar Ali, assistant land officer of Bhuapur Upazila Land Office.

Dhaka divisional ACC chief Nasim Anwar said acting on a complaint by one Abdul Karim, the ACC officials arrested Ansar Ali at Covindasi union land office while he was taking Tk 5,000 from the complainant as bribe.

Ansar had been harassing Karim for long over mutation of his father's land, even though he had paid the government fee.

At one stage, Ansar demanded Tk 10,000 from Karim. As per suggestion of the ACC officials, Karim settled the bribe amount atTk 5,000 with the land officer and fixed Thursday for giving the money.
