Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia yesterday said militants can no longer reside in the city due to steps like beat policing and collection of citizens' and tenants' information.

Police activities have now become easer as the building and apartment owners collect tenants' information and verify those, the commissioner told the monthly crime conference held at the DMP headquarters in the capital.

Meeting sources said police have already made entry of information of around three lakh city dwellers in its Citizen Information Management System.

The crime conference, attended by officers-in-charge of all the police stations and deputy commissioners of all divisions and high police officials, discussed the recent rise in rape incidents.

The sources said the DMP boss asked his forces to remain alert so that no misunderstanding arose with members of other forces. He also instructed to inform the high officials if anyone from law enforcement agencies violates traffic rules.

The commissioner asked the traffic cops to take snaps of the rule violators, if possible. He also awarded officers of different units for their performances.
