Actor couple Dipa Khandakar and her husband Shahed Ali live a happy family life with a son and a daughter, but both are dedicated professionals. The duo took out time from their hectic schedule ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, to talk about their Eid plans, family life and more. Excerpts:Tell us about your Eid plans.

Dipa: I love spending the day with my family. I'm busy with the day's responsibilities during Eid-ul-Azha. The day after Eid, there is the grand feast for our family members. Like previous years, we will also jointly celebrate this Eid.

Shahed: After returning from Eidgah, I get busy with the sacrificial animal. The day after Eid, the family members of my father and inlaws visit our home and enjoy the celebration together. We don't go usually outside during this Eid.

How was your first Eid celebration after

your marriage?

Shahed: It was not great (laughs). During Chaand Raat, the eve of the festival, I had to work for editing a play. I was assistant director for a play. My wife repeatedly phoned me but I could not pick the call for my work because if the editing did not complete in time, the play would not telecast during Eid.

Dipa: I will never forget that Eid. I waited for him at his house but he was not coming. I kept calling him but at one stage, Shahed switched off his phone. I waited for him awake the entire night. Shahed was even late on the day of Eid, and I was in a bad mood.

Who usually does the Eid shopping? Dipa: I do the whole planning in this regard. I do shopping for all including my domestic help. I usually do it alone.

Has the idea of Eid changed over the years?

Dipa: Now, it's a responsibility. During childhood, there was no responsibility centering Eid celebrations. We could do whatever we wanted. After marriage, the first Eid was a bad experience for me. But everything is okay now and we look forward to Eid.

Shahed: I agree with her. To me, the true happiness of Eid is for children.

Who is in charge of the cooking?

Dipa: I cook on the occasion. Beef is the obvious first priority on the menu. Besides, chicken curry is prepared for children.

How would you say your life has changed after marriage?

Dipa: I'm learning from everyday family life, and we make memories together every day. I'm really happy with my children and family.

Shahed: I have learnt many things after marriage; and it is a fulfilling experience.
