The chehlum of Faraaz Ayaaz Hossain, who was killed in Holey Artisan Restaurant terror attack in Gulshan, was held in the capital yesterday.

The programme was held after Asr prayers at the Gulshan residence of Faraaz's grandfather Latifiir Rahman, also chairman and chief executive of Transcom Croup.

Special prayers were offered seeking eternal peace for his departed soul at a milad mahfil held on the occasion.

Distinguished persons from different tiers of the society including family members, relatives, friends, noted businesspersons, government and private service holders and civil society representatives attended the chehlum.

Mawlana Ershaduddin conducted the milad. Later, Latifur Rahman and Faraaz’s elder brother ZaraifAyaat Hossain shared their fond memories of Faraaz in brief.

Zaraif recalled his younger brother's bravery and noble virtues.

"Today is Friendship Day. It is an appropriate day to talk about Faraaz. The instance Faraaz created for friendship will remain as an example " he said.

Latifur Rahman said the humanity and value Faraaz showed despite sensing death was extraordinary. "I myself could not take such a decision."

Latifur urged all to pray so that his family members can uphold such value for whole life

Later, prayers were offered for Faraaz, his friends and othervictims ofthe terror attack.

Faraaz was a grandson of Latifur Rahman and Shahnaz Rahman and son ofSimeen Hossain and Waquer Hossain.

Faraaz, a student of Emory University

in Atlanta in the US, came home to spend vacation and went to the Holey Artisan Bakery with friends on July 1. Earlier, he was a student of Sir John Wilson School and American International School in Dhaka.
