Doctors at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) yesterday started examining and treating the four-year-old boy of Magura, who has been diagnosed with a premature ageing condition.

An eight-member medical board headed by the hospital's Burn Unit Prof Abul Kalam Azad, was formed yesterday to examine and treat Bayezid Hossian.

About 20 to 21 medical tests will be conducted before they start the treatment, said Samanta Lal Sen, chief coordinator of the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery at DMCH.

Bayezid with his swollen face, wrinkled skin, hollow eyes, aching joints and other old-age signs including small jaw, was admitted to the hospital on Saturday.

He was initially diagnosed with progeria by a five-member medical team of Magura Sadar Hospital, which later suggested sending him to DMCH for better treatment and research by specialists.

Bayezid was born with the face resembling that of an elderly man, said his parents.
