Bangladesh Bar Council, the licencing and regulatory body for lawyers, yesterday placed some demands including allocation of land for it.

A delegation led by its Vice Chairman Abdul Baset Majumder made the demands while meeting Law Minister Anisul Huq at his secretariat office.

They requested the government to give a permanent lease of 100 decimal khas land from the Supreme Court to the council, to construct a 15-storey building on its premises, to donate Tk 50 crore to its benevolent fund and to determine the status of its vice chairman and other members in the warrant of precedence, a law ministry press release said.
