Two prosecution witnesses yesterday narrated to the International Crimes Tribunal-1 how three Habiganj war crimes accused along with other "Razakars" and Pakistani occupation army were involved in the murder of two freedom fighters, rape of two women, arson and looting during the Liberation War.

The fifth and sixth prosecution witnesses - Khasru Miah and Shafique Ali - testified against war crimes accused - Muhibur Rahman alias Boromian, 65, his younger brother Mujibur Rahman alias Angur Mian, 60, and their cousin Abdur Razzak, 63, -before the tribunal in the presence of the accused.

Khasru said he used to live in the house of

MA Rob, deputy commander-in-chief of the Liberation War and also his maternal uncle, in Baniachang of Habiganj.

On October 16, 1971 he learnt that the Pakistani army came to their locality.

He said members of the Pakistani army and Razakars, includingthe three, came to the locality on boats, adding that they looted Rob's house and set other houses on fire.

Khasru said they also led arson attacks in a neighbouring Hindu majority area.

The witness said the three accused along with the others went to neighbouring houses and raped two women.

Khasru said 15 days later freedom fighters - Rajab Ali and Akai Ali — returned to Akai's house in the area.

"On that afternoon I heard a gunshot," said Khasru, adding that later he came to know that Rajab was shot dead by Razakars.

The Razakars also picked up Akai from

his home. "To date, there has been no information about Akai," said Khasru.

Shafique gave an almost similar deposition before the tribunal. The proceeding of the case was adjourned until today.
