There was already a listing for an 'Emily Stone' when she registered for the Screen Actors Guild, so she chose 'Emma' as her stage name. She first chose 'Riley Stone' as her stage name, but after gueststarring on the TV show “Malcolm in the Middle", she decided that she was more comfortable with 'Emma', a nickname that her mother had given her.
