A four-month pregnant woman allegedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan in her Sreepur residence of Gazipur yesterday to get rid of the daily torture ofher husband for dowry.

Mosharof Hossen, 32, quality superviser at Meghna Knit Composite Factory, used to torture Tushar, 27, for dowry ever since they got married, said her brother Uzzal Hossen, adding that he also beat her yesterday morning.

Police detained Mosharof and sent the body to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
