Bangladesh is set to host the first-ever International Volleyball tournament involving eight nations at the Shaheed Surawardhi Indoor Stadium beginning from May 23 to 28.

The Asian Volleyball Confederation awarded Bangladesh Volleyball Federation (BVF) the Asian Senior Men's Central Zone Volleyball Championship featuring hosts Bangladesh, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Nepal, Afghanistan and Maldives, split into two groups, playing roundrobin league matches and then top two teams will advance to the semifinals.

The disclosure to host the championship came yesterday at the logo unveiling ceremony where commerce minister Tofail Ahmed, state minister for youth and sports Biren Shikdar, deputy sports minister Arif Khan Joy and Bangladesh Olympic Association secretary general Syed Shahed Reza, were present.
