Brett Morgen, the director of the documentary "Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck”, has informed that a new Cobain album is being culled from home recordings he found while making the film, and should be released as early as this summer.

“[It] will feel like you're kind of hanging out with Kurt Cobain on a hot summer day in Olympia, Washington, as he fiddles about. It's going to really surprise people," Morgen told the Bedford + Bowery publication.

The director said he combed through 107 cassettes with 200 hours of “never-before-heard and rarely heard music." He also clarified that it's not a Nirvana album, but solely focused on the group's late frontman.

"It's just Kurt, and you're going to hear him do things you never expected to come out of him," Morgen said. Morgen revealed that the personal tapes also contained jam sessions with Courtney Love and Nirvana, demos, Beatles covers and more.

"Montage of Heck" takes an in-depth look at the troubled singer, including interviews with family members, unreleased home footage and various Nirvana performances.
