A three-member medical team from the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control and Research (1EDCR) under the health directorate yesterday visited Badamia village in Mymensingh where three children and a woman died of "food poisoning" after taking breakfast on Thursday.

Eight people, including the four, fell sick after having handmade flour bread with sweet potato at the house of their relative, Kalu Mian, inTrishalupazila.

Dr Ahmed Raihan Sharif, who is leading the team, said they talked to the victim families and locals, and also collected the bread, flour, sweet potato and some cooked fish from the spot for examination.

They also visited the four women, who had survived, at Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Their conditions are improving, said hospital sources.

Earlier, a medical team led by district Civil Surgeon Dr AKM Mustafa Kamal collected samples to send to the Institute of Public Health's laboratory in Dhaka today.
