A new Indian Visa Application Centre (IVAC) facility point will formally be opened in the capital's Dhanmondi today.

The State Bank of India (SBI), as the agent of The Indian High Commission in Dhaka, will accept all categories of visa applications and deliver visas, said a press release yesterday.

It will accept the applications from 8:00am to 1:00pm and deliver visas from 3:00pm to 6:00pm.

Such facilities are now available in Culshan and Motijheel in Dhaka and also in Chittagong, Sylhet, Khulna and Rajshahi.

While submitting applications, applicants are advised to select the correct category of visa they wish to apply for and ensure that all documentation is genuine, complete and accurate. Applicants are also advised to be vigilant about agents and middlemen and to report all such cases to the nearest police station. A special counter for Medical Emergency Visas is available at Gulshan and these applications may be deposited on a walk-in basis even without an appointment date.
