Taking six charges into cognisance, the International Crimes Tribunal-1 yesterday fixed January 7 next year to hear arguments of both the prosecution and defence on the indictment of two alleged Razakars of Netrakona.

The two, Obaidul Haque

alias Taher and Ataur Rahman alias Noni, were involved in the abduction and killing of at least 15 people, and looting, torching of over 400-450 houses during the Liberation War, according to the prosecution.

Meanwhile, the third prosecution witness yesterday testified that fugitive war crimes accused Syed Md Hasan Ali shot dead his father and uncle at Shimulhati village of Kishoreganj in 1971.

Sunil Chandra Paul said that on September 9 that year, 8-10 people dressed in khaki and carrying rifles came to their Paulpara in the village. One of them with pointy beard and white tupi (prayer cap) ordered other Razakars to catch and kill Hindu people, he added.

Taking shelter in a jungle, Sunil saw Razakars tying his father Okrur Paul and uncle Sharat Chandra Paul and

taking them to Jogodish Paul's house. Ten villagers were also caught by the Razakars, he said. "The man in white tupi shot my father and uncle. They slumped on the ground and died, groaning in pain."

The other 10 were also killed, the witness said, and he heard gunshots from a hideout.

Later, Sunil learnt from the villagers that the white-tupi man was "Hasan Razakar".

State-appointed defence counsel Abdus Shukur Khan cross-examined the witness before the proceeding was adjourned until December 21.
