Charges have been pressed against seven people, including three Awami League men, in a case for grabbing land of a Hindu family at Rasulpur village in Hatibandha upazila of the district.

Sub-Inspector Abul Kalam, also the investigation officer of the case submitted the charge sheet to the Chief Judicial magistrate's Court yesterday.

The accused are Patgram upazila's Bawra union AL President Rabiul Islam alias Miron ,46, ward AL Vice President Nazrul Islam, 52, Jubo League Bawra union unit President Mukul Hossain, 37, and AL supporters Anar Ali alias Anar, 52, Sultan Ali Khan, 67, Abdus Samad, 42, and Nasimuddin, 60. The accused are from Saradubi and Rasulpur villages of Hatibandha upazila.

Police said the seven grabbed 43 decimals ofland of Bhabani Kanto Sen at Rasulpur village, close to the border of Patgram upazila, on February 9 this year.

The grabbers also picked up Bhabani's sons Bidhan Chandra Sen and Bidyut Chandra Sen from the spot

and released them after taking signatures on three non-judicial stamps at night.

Following a case filed by Bhabani Sen with Hatibandha Police station, police arrested Abdus Samad and Anar Ali, two of

the seven accused, on March 11 and recovered the three non-judicial stamps from their possession.

Investigation Officer Abul Kalam also submitted the stamps with the charge sheet to the court yesterday.
