A Chittagong court yesterday indicted three brothers and their wives on the charge of attempting to murder the former's octogenarian mother following a dispute over property.

The accused are Nur Islam, 40, and his wife Shamima Akhter, 33; Nur Alam, 38, and his wife Parvin Akhter, 30; and Nur Hossain, 25, and his wife Beauty Akhter, 20.

On January 24, they beat Rawshan Ara Begum and tried to strangle her at her Halishahar residence after she had disagreed to distribute her properties among the children, according to the prosecution.
