Detectives arrested three Jamaat-backed UP chairmen from in front of the deputy commissioner's office in the town yesterday. The arrestees are Shah Alam, chairman of Baluhor Union Parishad Abdur Razzak, chairman of Dora Union Parishad, and Asgar Ali, chairman of Safdarpur Union Parishad under Kotcahndpur upazila. Shibir Jhenidah district unit President Omar Faruk said a team of DB police arrested the UP chairmen while they were returning home from a court at around ll:30am.DB sources said the chairmen are accused in a case for resort-ingto violence in the upazila on February 28 lastyear.
