Workers of private jute mills blocked Jessore-Khulna highway at three different spots for three hours yesterday morning, demanding reopening of the closed mills and payment of their dues. Witnesses said under the banner of "Besarkari Pat, Suta, Bastrakol Sangram Parishad", the agitating workers blocked the highway in Shiromoni, Phulbari Gate and Mirer Dhanda areas from 9am to 12pm, creating huge tailback on both sides ofthe highway.
