Two people were killed over land disputes in Laxmipur and Moulvibazar districts yesterday.

The dead were identified as Harun, 52, of Shibpur village under Raipur upazila of Laxmipur district, and Kazol Miah, 30, of Mithupur village under Kulaura upazila ofMoulbibazar district.

Our Noakhali correspondent reported that there was a feud between Harun and his elder brother Sanaullah over a piece of land.

At around 8:00am yesterday, Harun and Sanaullah locked in an altercation over the issue. At one stage, Sanaullah, his wife Aasia Khatun and sons Sohel and Delwar swooped on Harun with sharp weapons and hacked him to death.

Harun's wife Mohimunnessa, who was beaten up by Sanaullah and his sons during the incident, was admitted to Raipur Upazila Heath Complex. Being informed, police rushed to the spot, recovered the body and sent it to Laxmipur Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Sanaullah and his family members had gone into hiding soon after incident. Contacted, Officer-in-Charge(OC) Manjurul Haque of Raipur Police Station said they have already launched a drive to arrest Sanaullah and his wife and sons.

In Moulbibazar, a man was killed by his younger brother over a land dispute at Mithupur village in Kulaura upazila yesterday morning, reports our correspondent.

At around 7:00am, Harun Miah locked in an altercation with his younger brother Kazol Miah over the ownership of a land they inherited from their father.

At one stage, Harun and his men beat up Kazol, leaving his critically injured.

Kazol was rushed to Sylhet Osmani Madical College Hospital where the doctors declared him death.
