At least 40 people, mostly children, became victims of food poisoning after taking meal at a wedding party at Farakpur village in Bheramara on Saturday.

Doctors and locals said the victims attended the marriage ceremony of the son of Abdul Barik of the village and fell sick after having several rich food items including curd. "Moments after taking the foods my two children felt excessive pain in the stomach and started vomiting in the evening", said Asadul Alam, father of the kids.

From Saturday night to yesterday morning, more than 40 people were admitted to the upazila health complex.

They fell sick due to food poisoning, said Moshiul Alam, resident medical officerof the health complex.
