Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit Tangail and Jamalpur districts today.

She will inaugurate the much awaited Dhaleswari Bridge at Elasin in Delduar upazila of Tangail in the afternoon, reports our correspondent.

The PM will land beside the river by a helicopter at 1:45pm, inaugurate the bridge and address a rally there for few minutes and later fly to Jamalpur said Anisur Rahman Miah, Deputy Commissioner of Tangail.

Three lakhs people of Nagarpur upazila are in joyous mood over the bridge inauguration as their long cherished dream finally comes true.

People of adjacent Doulatpur and Chowhali upazilas in Manikganj and Sirajganj districts are also very happy as they will also get a lot of benefit from the bridge on Dhaleswari river.

The bridge will be open to public just after its inauguration, said the official of Roads and Highways Department.

The prime minister will go to Jamalpur from Tangail and inaugurate 48 development projects.

They include one in Islampur constituency (Jamalpur-2) which aims to prevent erosion in the area by Jamuna and

Brahmaputra rivers.

The prime minister is also scheduled address a rally at Islampur municipality field at 3:00pm.

The upazila wore a festive look as about a hundred gates and arches were set up and a large number of colourful festoons and banners hung at different points of the upazila town to welcome the Prime Minister, reports our correspondent.

A few of the projects to be opened today include Sanandabari bridge constructed over river Zinziram at Dewanganj upazila under Jamalpur-1 constituency, guarder bridge on Royganj-Beltail road, RCC bridge on Shyamganj-Beltail GC road,

Tonki-Pochabahola Bazar GC road and Pochabahola-Ballokpur GC road and a bridge on the road at Melandah upazila, development work on Junail-Koyra-Haatmagura GC road, on Koyra-Tartapara road and four bridges including a 500-metre guarder bridge on the road, development work on Koyra-Satpua GC road at Madarganj upazila under JamaIpur-3 constituency; PC guarder bridge on Brahmanjani Bazar road, RCC bridge on Jhalpara road and Tarakandi Police Investigation Centre at Sarishabari upazila under Jamalpur-4 constituency.

There are also several other projects in Jamalpur-5 constituency.
