A documentary titled “Haq-er Ghar", featuring the appalling eviction of the true followers of Fakir Lalon Shai from his shrine in Kushtia, premiered at Dhaka Art Centre on October 5. National award-winning filmmaker Fakhrul Arefin has made and produced the documentary. Ekramul Kabir Shohan has cinematographed the documentary, edited by Ripon Kumar Das. The filmmaker's other documentaries include “Al Badr" and "The Speech".

October 17 marks Fakir Lalon Shai's death anniversary. The filmmaker along with eminent personalities will go to Kushtia where the documentary will be screened at Kushtia Public Library premises on that date.

Fakir Lalon Shai's true followers were evicted from the shrine in 1984. The documentary captures the Guru-Shishya Parampara Baulism that the bard uniquely fashioned and popularised through diffusing his "twatto" and mystic songs during his lifetime. Local Bauls along with several veterans, who are the witnesses of the loathsome activity, have been interviewed to seek the justification for Fakhrul Arefin’s film.

"According to the Constitution of Bangladesh, every citizen has his/her own religious rights. The followers of

Lalon regard the bard's philosophy as a theology. They have been pulled apart from the shrine for almost 30 years. The government and local bigwigs' skewed initiative of turning Lalon Akhra inot the so-called 'Lalon Academy', 'Picnic Spot' and 'Wiping out of real Baulism' inspired me to look into the matter seriously. Despite the High Court's Ruling in favor/behalf of the true followers of Lalon, they cannot find their place at the shrine. That's why, I have made the documentary,” said Fakhrul Arefin.

Video clips from several films - "Lalon" and "Moner Manush" -- based on Lalon's philosophy, life and works have also been included in the documentary. The documentary outlines several Lalon songs including "Boshot Bati Jhogra Jhati", "Choron Chhara Koro Na Go Doyal", "Pabey Shamanne Ki Taar Dekha", "Manush Guru Nishtha Jaar" along with two Tagore songs "Amar Praner Manush Achhey Pran-e" and "Buk Be(n)dhey Tui Dara Dekhi" and a Gagan Harkara song "Ami Kothaye Pabo Tarey”. Veteran Baul Durlabh Shah recorded the song "Boshot Bati Jhogra Jhati" while local bauls including Tutul Fakir recorded other Lalon numbers for the documentary.

Abdullah Mamun lent his voice to two Tagore songs that have a prominent place in the documentary. Hasan Arif recorded the song "Ami Kothaye Pabo Tarey” for the documentary.
