Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained 14 people, including an alleged trafficker, as they were trying to go to Malaysia through the Whykang check post inTeknafupazila under the district yesterday.

After primary interrogation, the BGB handed over the detainees to Teknaf police and filed a case against them.

A case has also been filed against two local traffickers - Gura Mian, son of late Mozaffar Ali, and Md Abdur Rahim, son of Sona Ali, of Kachubania area in Teknaf -

according to the confessional statement of the arrestees, said Col Zahid Hasan, commander of BGB 42 Battalion.

The arrestees, who are from Narsingdi and Satkhira districts, would be produced to a Cox's Bazar court today, police said, adding that the arrested trafficker is Md Bachchu Mian, son of late Shamsul Haque, of Battali Bazar in Narsingdi.

The BGB members arrested nine other people, including three alleged traffickers, from the same check post on Friday when they were trying to go to Malaysia illegally.
