Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto appreciated the strides made by Bangladesh, particularly in the economic field, and emphasised more trade cooperation between the two countries in the coming days.

He told this when M Fazlul Karim, Bangladesh ambassador to Mexico, presented his credentials to the Mexican president in a ceremony held at the Palacio Nacional in Mexico City on Wednesday, said a foreign ministry press release.

During a short talk following the ceremony, President Pena Nieto also appreciated the opening of the Bangladesh embassy in Mexico and felt that this would help further strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two friendly countries.

Fazlul Karim, the first resident ambassador of Bangladesh to Mexico, underscored the need for closer economic cooperation with Mexico and urged to encourage Mexican businessmen to invest in Bangladesh and import Bangladeshi products, which offer competitive price and high quality.

The Mexican president expressed hope that the two countries would be able to fully harness the potential for mutual benefit.
