Late Abdur Razzak, one of the key organisers of the Liberation War, had worked for the trial of the war criminals and the trial's completion would be the best way to pay him due respect, Razzak's colleagues and friends said yesterday.

They were speaking at a commemorating meeting marking the first death anniversary of the veteran Awami League leader Abdur Razzak.

Abdur Razzak Smriti Sangsad organised the programme in the auditorium of Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh, with eminent educationalist Prof Anisuzzaman in the chair.

Razzak died on December 23 last year.

Hasanul Haque Inu, president of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, said when Ekatturer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee, founded by Jahanara Imam, started movement for the trial of the war criminals during the 1990s, Razzak actively took part in the movement.

Awami League leader Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Communist Party of Bangladesh President Mujahidul Islam Selim, Bangladesh Shanti Parishad President Mozaffar Hossain Paltu, Workers' Party of Bangladesh President Rashed Khan Menon, and veteran AL leader Suranjit Sengupta echoed their remarks.

AL leader Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, Tofail Ahmed, AL General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, and Razzak's son Nahin Razzak, also spoke among others.
