A discussion and cultural programme organised by Anti Violence Alliance for Women was held in Pabna Town Hall premises recently with the theme, "Ensure safety and protect women from violence”.

Administrator of Pabna Zila Parishad, Md. Saidul Haque Chunnu, spoke as the chief guest, while the Deputy Commissioner of Pabna, Md. Mostafizur Rahman, spoke as the special guest. Among others, Additional Police Superintendent, Shamim Ahmed and vice chairman of Pabna Sadar upazila Parishad, Samsunnahar Rekha, also spoke on the occasion.

Women are neglected and denied their due. Women are oppressed at the social and family level, said the speakers. We have to work united to ensure safety for women at home and in society, the speakers added.

A cultural programme was held to generate awareness about women's rights. Shontosh Chakrabarti, Abul Hassem and other artistes gave musical performances at the event.
