On the third day (July 4) of the ongoing National Theatre Festival on the Liberation War, seven troupes, including two from Dhaka, staged plays at three different venues. Mahakal Natyasampraday staged its popular production "Ghum Nei” at the Experimental Theatre Hall.

Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, in association with Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation, has arranged the fortnight-long festival that is featuring over 100 plays. The Cultural Ministry is supporting the event.

Mahakal Natyasampraday's "Ghum Nei” is based on a novel by Nasiruddin Yousuff with the same title. Guerrilla operations by the freedom fighters during the Liberation War in Dhaka have been presented dramatically in the production.

John Martin has dramatised and directed the play. The play has had over 100 shows so far.

After the Mahakal play, Jhalakathi Government College staged “Nij Bhumey Parabashi” at the same venue.

Dhaka-based troupe NatyaTirtha, Govt. Takurgaon College and Govt. Netrakona Colllege respectively staged "Phagun Sheshey”, "Aley Hu Dishmaley Shadhinkada” and “Muktir Palagaan" at the Studio Theatre Hall.

Kushtia Govt. University College and Jessore College staged “Shurjodoy” and “Salahuddin-er Pala” at the National Music and Dance Centre Auditorium.

No play was staged on July 5, as it was Shab-e-Barat. Eight plays will be staged today at four venues. Among the troupes, Theatre (Arambagh) will stage “Baled” at the National Theatre Hall.
