The training camp of the national U-22 team will resume from June 9 after the organising committee on Monday revealed fresh fixtures of the AFC U-22 Asia Cup Group D qualifiers in Nepal.

The team, under the guidance of coach Syed Golam Jilani will have five days training at home before leaving for Nepal on June 14 for the qualifiers, scheduled for June 16 to 24 in Kathmandu, Nepal.

Following the engagement of the national team in the AFC U-22 Asia Cup, the ongoing Grameenphone Bangladesh Premier League will remain suspended for two weeks from June 12 to 26 before the fifth edition of the professional football league will re-start from June 27.

"Some clubs don't want to play the ongoing league without their players selected for the U-22 team as some of them are in the title race while some of them are fighting to avert the relegation and after discussion with the league committee we decided to suspended the league for two weeks,” said Kazi Nabil Ahmed, chairman of the National Teams Committee.

“Though we tried to convince the authorities concerned to defer the AFC U-22 Asia Cup by two weeks so that we can complete our professional league but we did not manage," said Nabil, who is also vice president of the Bangladesh Football Federation.

However, it has been learnt that the BFF has tried to withdraw their national side from the AFC U-22 meet following their financial constraint but they backtracked from the decision in fear of having to pay a huge fine for not taking part.
