The premier of a play titled “Shediner Ghatona” was staged at the

Out Reach Resource Centre (ORC) Seminar Hall in Thakurgoan Government Boys' High School on Sunday night.

Local artistes performed in the play directed by Mashrequl Arefin, written by Azmat Rana, with Kademul Islam contributing to art direction.

The play was based on a local incident where a village girl became a dowry victim and eventually died.

After the play, a discussion was held at the venue.

Among others, renowned educationist professor Monotosh Kumer De, Headmaster of Thakurgoan Government Boys' High School Md. Akhteruzzaman, NDC Aslam Mollah, cultural organiser Anupom Moni, Azmat Rana and Mashrequl Arefin, were discussants.

The speakers at the discussion complimented the courage to bring a highly sensitive issue into the limelight and make the play locally despite many limitations.

The play will also convey a social message about the menace of dowry to rural people, said the speakers.

Prior to the discussion, director of the play Mashrequl Arefin gave a brief about his experience in his debut play.
