Language Movement veteran and artist Imdad Hossain passed away due to old age complications. He died at about 10:30am on October 13. He was 85.

Hossain encouraged freedom fighters at the training camps with his artworks during the Liberation War. He received Ekushey Padak and other prestigious awards for his outstanding contribution to the Language Movement.

Photographer Rashid Talukder Rashid Talukder, one of the most acclaimed photojournalists in the country, died on October 25 at the age of 72. As a war photographer in 1971, he took photographs that are considered to be major documents of the Liberation War.

Noted author Rashid Karim died at Ibrahim Cardiac Centre in Dhaka on November 26. He was 86. He was ailing from age-related complications.

National Professor Kabir Chowdhury

Dr Razia Khan Amin, an eminent litterateur and English professor at Dhaka University, passed away in a city hospital on December 28 at the age of 75. She had been ill for quite some time. Prof Razia Khan Amin is the daughter of distinguished politician and social activist Moulvi Tamizuddin Khan.
