Gautam Ghosh's feature film on Fakir Lalon Shai, "Moner Manush”, has won two awards including the Best Film, according to a press release.

The film has been adjudged as the "best feature film on national integration” at the 58th Indian National Film Awards.

The director of the much acclaimed film will receive the awards from the Indian President at a programme to be held today (September 9) in New Delhi.

The film, an adaptation of the Sunil Gangopadhyay novel with the same title, has been jointly produced by Impress Telefilm Ltd and Aashirbad Chalachchitra of Bangladesh, and Rose Valley Films Network of India.

by Gautam Ghosh. Ghosh directed the film's music as well. The cast includes actors from both India and Bangladesh: Prasenjit, Paoli Dham, Chanchai Chowdhury, Raisul Islam Asad, Champa, Rokeya Prachi, Sudeshna Swayamprabha, Priyanshu Chattopadhyay and others.

"Moner Manush” depicts the life of Lalon, starting from his early days. According to the film, Lalon was born to a Hindu family. Through a turn of events the young Lalon is separated from his family and is given shelter by a Muslim family. The development of his philosophy on secularism is initiated when his original family refuses to accept him, as they consider him an outcast now.
