A three-day continuous performance of kirtan and chanting concluded on Sunday at Ramakrishna Ashram premises at Thakurgaon municipality area.

District unit president of Hindu-Bouddho-Christian Oikya Parishad, Advocate Balaram Guha Thakurata, inaugurated the event on Friday. President of Tarakbramma Mahanamjagga Committee of the local Ramakrishna Ashram, Narayan Chandra Das, was in the chair. Local public representatives and religious leaders were present at the inaugural ceremony.

Tarakbramma Mahanamjagga Committee of Ramakrishna Ashram organised the programme to offer prayers for world peace and the welfare of humanity.

The five groups that performed at the ceremony were Bimol Krishna Samprodai of Netrakona, Pagolnath Samprodai of Sirajgonj, Joy Bishnu Priya Samprodai of Madaripur, Nabaradha Rani Samprodai of Gopalgonj, Uttam Shamprodai of Dinajpur and Naba Jugal Kishore Shamprodai of Nilphamari.

In the course of the programme several artistes from different groups also rendered devotional songs.

Hundreds of Hindu devotees, including children attended the event everyday.

The event is observed annually.
