The government yesterday formed two bodies — Industrial Skills Council and Industry Advisory Council — as part of an initiative to train people in the hospitality and tourism industry.

Initially, the primary task of the councils is to develop a customised training curriculum that will cater to the hospitality market in Bangladesh and other South Asian countries.

Also, these councils will impart training to the people in the remote areas.

International Labour Organisation and the European Union will fund the programme under the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Reform Project, Bangladesh.

"We've taken the initiative with an aim to create more employment for our young generation at home and abroad. And only skilled people can bring good to the poverty eradication move," said Shafique Alam Mehdi, civil aviation and to urism secretary.
