A rape victim succumbed to her injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) early yesterday. The garment worker was raped at Ashulia on the outskirts of the city on Sunday.

The victim, aged around 17 years, of Rangpur, was a worker of Southern Fashion Ltdatjirabo.

A relative of the victim said some unidentified criminals abducted her from near Jirabo bus stand Sunday evening, and after raping her several times they left her with severe injuries near the bus stand.

The victim used to live at Jirabo and that evening she was going to her sister's house in the same area.

She was first taken to a local hospital and then shifted to DMCH on November 8 as her condition deteriorated.

DMC morgue sources confirmed that she was a rape victim. A murder case was filed with Ashulia Police Station in this connection.
