Police arrested yesterday two suspected killers of ward unit Juba League leader Syed Yusuf Ali, who was killed on Thursday following a feud over tender manipulation.

On information from the intelligence branch of police, Abul Hossain and Abdul Hannan were arrested from Tongi Diversion Road at Moghbazar at around 7:00pm.

Earlier on Friday, police also arrested college student Russell, brother of prime accused Faisal.

Sub-inspector Abdul Jalil of Ramna police station said they sent Russell to court seeking 7 days' remand. The court fixed October 12 for hearing on the appeal for remand.

SI Jalil, also the investigation officer of the case, said though the names of Abul and Hannan were not mentioned in the case statement, they were involved in the killing.

Deceased Yusuf s nephew Syed Imran Ali alias Robin also suspects that detained Abul and Hannan might have been involved in the murder.

Yusuf was the publicity secretary of Ward-55 unit Juba League and local activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League allegedly killed him at Tongi Diversion Road.

In primary investigation, police learnt that Faisal and the victim Yusuf Ali were acquaintances but they did not have any previous enmity. The clash started over the sharing of tender of Red Crescent Society's 11 old motorcycles.

Ramna police said detective branch of police and Rapid Action Battalion are also trying to nab the main accused.
