The Independent, an English daily, was relaunched yesterday with a new look to fulfil the demand for access to information of the people in a more accurate way.

The Independent will have a 32-page regular issue from today. Today's issue will also include a 40-page supplement.

Editor of The Independent Mahbubul Alam formally declared the relaunching at a ceremony at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre in the city.

Alam said "The changeover is not merely in form and format, we have to report with integrity, remain committed to the principle of unalloyed truth, andnotbe swayed by any interests other than those that will aid in the promotion of rights and liberty, and the nation's welfare.”
