Ekattur-er Jatri arranged a recitation programme, titled “Ekattur-er Kobita,” at the Seminar Room of Central Public Library, Shahbagh on July 5. Both noted and emerging poets of the country recited their poems on the occasion.

Renowned poet Rafik Azad recited one of his poems, “Nebey Shadhinota,” while Habibullah Sirajee recited “Priyo Shadhinota" at the event.

One of the leading poets of the country, Nirmolendu Goon, recited “Shuborno Golap-er Jonno,” a poem on Bangabandhu's declaration of six-point charter.

Prior to reciting the poem, Goon

explained the title of the programme, "Ekattur-er Kobita.” “ 'Ekattur-er Kobita' should not only include poems written during the Liberation War. Poems written on the significant events leading to the war, memorable incidents during the war and following events that were caused by the war are also considered 'Ekattur-er Kobita.' Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's historic speech on March 7, 1971, appeared to me as an epic poem. The poem "September On Jessore Road” by American poet Allen Ginsberg is also a remarkable 'Ekattur-er Kobita' as it disseminated the conscience of 1971,” Goon said.

Eminent poets —Asad Chowdhury, Mahadev Saha, Ashim Saha, Mohammad Rafique also recited their poems on the occasion. Anjana Saha, Kazi Rosy, Shanta Maria, Jharna Rahman, Obayed Akash, Mohon Raihan, Nasir Ahmed, Abu Hasan Shahriar and Tokon Thakur, among other poets, recited their poetry.

Noted reciter Mahidul Islam recited "Bangla Chharo” of Sikander Abu Zafar and "Tomakey Pabar Jonno Hey Shadhinota" of Shamsur Rahman at the event.

Convenor and member-secretary of Ekattur-er Jatri, Harun Habib and Khaled Shamsul Islam respectively welcomed the poets and spoke prior to the recitation.
