Tamim Iqbal became the first Bangladeshi to score consecutive centuries after he reached the three-figure mark against

England on the second day of the second Test at Old Trafford in Manchester yesterday.

The left-hander cut off-spinner Graeme Swann to reach the landmark off 100 balls in an innings that had the usual array of sweetly-timed and brutal shot-making that was a feature of his previous century at Lord's inthefirstTest.

After this effort, the customary leap of joy was present and so was the sly reminder to put his name on the Old Trafford honours board after what was Tamim's fourth Test hundred. His maiden ton was against West Indies last year before his sublime 151 against India earlier this year.

He shared a rapid 126-run opening stand with Imrul Kayes after England were bowled out for 419 at the stroke of lunch.

The 21-year-old struck eleven boundaries and a six which he hit over long-on to reach 50 off 43 balls.

He was eventually dismissed when he bottom-edged a James Anderson delivery to wicketkeeper Matt Prior to fall for 108 off 114 balls.

Tamim has made England his favourite opposition, knocking off 503 runs at an average of 71.85 with two centuries and four half-centuries over the past six months.

Despite Tamim's heroics, Tigers slumped to 216 all out at stumps onthesecondday.

That left them just four runs short of avoiding the follow-on after losing all 10 of their wickets after tea.
