Bangladeshi Film Maker Anwar Chowdhury has been nominated for taking part in a three-week long programme, titled, “Documentary Film Making in the United States ", as part of the International Visitor Regional Project for South and Central Asia, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, which begins from June 7, 2010. Starting from New York, the programme extends to another four cities, Raleigh, San Francisco , Los Angeles and Washington, D.C, says a press release.

In the programme Anwar will get an overview of the documentary and independent film industry in the United States, including its

historical evolution, current trends, and the impact of new technologies. He will meet and discuss with prominent filmmakers, broad-

casters, distributors, academics, technicians, film festival directors, philanthropists, NGOs, and financial managers to explore

collaborative efforts.

Under this programme, there will be a screening of documentaries either “Ruddho Koishore" (Barren Dreams) or “Jaler Shjilpamanjary “(Waterworks), directed by Chowdhury, at the Stavis Theater, School of Visual Art in New York. He will attend the Los Angeles Film Festival and Silverdocs Documentary Festival and will visit various Film Study Centres and TV Stations as part of this programme.

Ten more participants from other South Asian and Central Asian countries will be attending the programme.
